search by all email addresses primary and not primary

Question

When filtering by email address in Targets, Leads or Contacts only the primary address is considered.

This does not work for us.

I reported the issue in v7.8 but it has yet to be addressed, Bug# 77949

The workaround was to search via the Global Search but I noticed today that searching in Global Search by email address does something very odd, it returns ALL addresses for that DOMAIN!

So if I search for mickey.mouse@gmail.com I get ALL Targets, Leads and Contacts with @gmail.com accounts.

You can imagine how not useful that result is! I am then forced to use the browser Find to actually find what I searched for in the hundreds of records that are returned.

Has anyone found a fix to Bug #77949 so we can filter by ALL knows addresses and not just primary?

This workaround may be useful:

Create the file custom/include/SugarObjects/implements/email_address/vardefs.php with this content:

$vardefs['fields']['email']['link'] = 'email_addresses';
