Create a field highlighting next activity

Hello All,

I'm looking to create a field in the opportunities module that showcases or highlights the next activity (call, meeting, task, email, etc.) so we can see what our next step with an opportunity is. These next steps need to also correlate to the contacts or account assigned to the opportunity. I found a workflow that tells you what the LAST activity was but I'm not sure how to modify that to tell us what the NEXT activity is.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Working through the workflow instructions a little more, I don't think it can be easily adjusted as it doesn't detail how to create a field to show the next activity.
Perhaps I didn't describe what I'm looking to accomplish well enough. I would like to create a field in the opportunities record view that shows a clickable link (if possible) of the subject from the next occurring activity relating to that opportunity record.That way when I run a report I can include the next activity and easily see next steps to perform for that opportunity. Ideally, the due date for that next step would be great to include in a separate field as well.

Hello Bjorn, What further information would you need?
Essentially, we would like to take the information relating to each opportunity found here:
And if it's a 'scheduled' activity (call, task, meeting) have it auto update these fields:
Potentially have an activity stream field, that could stack activities in the event that there are past activities that have not been completed.
