How to do a record view count

I've created a new module and I want to have a field that represents the number of time a record has been viewed - just like the KnowledgeBase module does. How do I do that?

So, that looks like it counts the number of calls, emails, meetings, notes and tasks affiliated with that module. I just want to know when a user "views" the record.

Hi Becky Dale,
Recognizing you have posted this in the Admin section of this forum, not the Developer section, I think it is valuable to confirm there is nothing in the user interface of the application that provides this functionality. If this is possible, the solution will need to be developed at a code level.
