Mass update of a single field takes ages..

Hi there,

As keyuser/admin, I'm asked to do several mass updates on our contact and opportunity records.

An average mass update request is involving about 10,000 records.

However, Sugar only seem to work in chunks of 1000 records ? (although the configuration doesn't show an entry in the max records field which is empty so should be limitless ?).

Also, if you feed Sugar a file of 1000 updates, if at all it reaches the end before aborting for various reasons, it takes ages to complete (about an hour upto an hour and a half for those 1000 record chunk...)

Is there something I can do to speed up things ? Configuration parameters to adapt ? Using a differen approach instead of the mass update function ?

We have various roles (admins, key users, regular users) in Sugar all experiencing the same...

Anybody else experiencing this extreme slow mass upgrade function ?

Thanks Björn,
I first need to adjust my wording of my message above. My 'Mass Update' means 'update via Import'.
What you describe is indeed what I try to do , but the re-import is on my system restricted to 1000 records.
And even offering a reduced to 1000 records file for import with only the bare necessity on fields, it takes ages to import and often (50%) it can't even reach the end of the file and aborts...

Hi Hugo,
can you please got to the admin -> System Setting -> Advanced and check the field "Import - maximum Number of Rows"?
If there is a value set please make it empty and try again:

That field is indeed empty, but still that limit of 1000 rows is active...

sorry, I was on vacation so I may a bit late with my answer.
Imports can also be affected by limitations in your .php ini regarding max file size or number of rows etc. I recommend to check this too.
