Add additional column to contact and lead record view layout?

Kayla Ebert - There is a SugarCRMLabs project that may work for you: GitHub - sugarcrmlabs/LayoutAdmin: Allows admin to define number of columns for any module's Record View.. These projects are freely available, but do not include support. If you have access to a sandbox, I'd recommend installing there first for testing. I hope this helps!

I wasn't sure which one I was meant up upload on the Module Loader but I tried both. Each time, I got "The uploaded file is not compatible with this version of Sugar: 8.2.0" :-(   The search continues!

Kayla Ebert The files you're downloading need to be unzipped, which both contain another .zip file that can be uploaded through Module Loader.

If those don't work, try LayoutAdmin/layout_admin.zip at master · sugarcrmlabs/LayoutAdmin · GitHub. There's a download button on that page which contains another .zip that looks like it should work (without unzipping).

Hi Alex! 

The second zip file uploaded without issue.

• I changed the number of columns for leads/contacts from 2 to 3 and clicked save. 

• I went into Studio --> Contacts --> Layouts --> Record View to edit the Contact Record View. 
• There are only 2 columns available.
• I performed a Quick Repair and Rebuild, thinking that may be needed to cement the changes but I still only see two columns for leads and contacts.

Have I perhaps missed a step?

I just tried it and it looks like Studio does not change to show the additional columns. If you check the record view on Leads and Contacts (if you go to a record), you should see the new columns. For example, I changed the count to 4 on this instance:

Alex is right that studio is not changed. You also have modify the number of columns in Admin in a new panel for each module.

Haha, well I am convinced my sandbox simply hates me.

I changed it from 3 columns to 4 and I even got the notification that my changes were successfully made. However, when I look at a lead and contact record there's still only 2 columns. So weird! 

I will play around with it more tomorrow. For now, I have to prepare for our Friday meeting with our CEO tomorrow.

So odd. We've changed it to 4, clicked save, but we are only seeing two columns. 

Do you happen to have role based views setup that this user would be on? Besides trying in an Incognito browser that is something I've seen. Only the default view gets updated.

Oh that's a bummer! But it does explain it. All of our users have role-based views based on their department.
