SugarCRM Mobile is just compatible with the professional editions 7.7 / 7.8:

For 6.5.x you can check out the app "Sugar Mobile" which should work with that version.

One minor correction here, I just realized you are using the CE version. Sugar Mobile, like SugarCRM Mobile, is only available for 6.5.x Professional versions (PRO/ ENT/ULT)
However, as you say you can access it through the mobile view. For that just open Sugar from your mobile browser and login from there, this will load the mobile view.

SugarCRM Mobile only supports the supported versions of SugarCRM PRO/ENT/ULT which are 7.7 and 7.8. I would love to better how are you planning to use the CRM and with how many users? It would be beneficial to understand why Sugar Pro is not a consideration (other than pricing).
