I'm planning to buy a ibm power 8 server (type 8286-41a) I would like to install a linux partition ubuntu and run sugarcrm ce 6.5. Does anyone have experience with this kind of setup?
While I have not worked with that particular server, I can tell you that in general, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to do this. Sugar is designed to be pretty flexible in terms of what kind of hardware it will work on. The only real hardware limitations would come from how you use Sugar and what resources it needs.
What's typically more important is your software environment. A list of our supported platforms can be found here. Ubuntu should work just fine as most Linux distributions will run Sugar.
