What is the criteria for having a call or email or task to show up on the history subpanel of a quote?

As the title suggests, I'm curious what is required in order for a call or email or task to show on the history sub panel when viewing a quote?

 

I'm building a simple form (outside of Sugar) to input data into the Sugar database.  I can populate all the necessary data to the calls, emails, tasks database tables without issue and associate them to the quote (by parent_id = quote ID and parent_type - quote etc.) but the entries do not show up on the history sub panel.

 

Is there another "linking table" to associate activities to quotes? 

 

We are using SugarCRM 6.54 and any help is appreciated.
