How can I hide core modules?

We are having a cleanup of the system but many core modules are not required such as Prospects/Contracts/Bugs/Cases/Accounts/Products etc.

How can we hide these on the system.  Including the studio icons and report modules?

I have tried the following in the custom/Extension/application/Ext/Include/<name>.php

$disabled = array('Bugs','Accounts','Cases','Contracts','Project',
    'Targets','Products','Opportunities','Quotes',
    'CampaignLog','Manufacturers','DocumentRevisions','Releases',
    'ProductCategories','Forecasts','ProductTypes','Quotas','Trackers');
foreach($moduleList as $k=>$module){
    if(in_array($module,$disabled)){
        $modInvisList[] = $module;
        unset($moduleList[$k]);
    }
}

It doesn't seem to work  am I missing something?
