Relate field on custom Account > Contact relationship not auto-populating

Hi everyone,

 

We have created a custom relationship between Accounts and Contacts, to allow a single Contact to be linked to multiple Accounts. In practice, this means opening an Account and using the Link Existing Record feature within the custom Contacts subpanel (temporarily entitled Contacts II).

 

This works fine, however it does not work properly when you add a new Contact to this custom subpanel. When you do this, it is not bringing through the name of the Account to which you're associating the Contact. This is strange, because when you use this feature in the out-of-the-box Contact subpanel, it auto-populates the name of the Account to which you're adding this new Contact.

 

I have tried running a quick R&R, as well as running the Repair Relationships option - however, the result has not changed.

 

Please can anyone help? We are using v7.7, Enterprise edition, installed on premise.
