I have imported a set of data using a .csv file to use in an email campaign but the emails haven't saved as a primary address - how do I mass update them to be the primary email address, as I need to change approx 800+ ?
Do you have an easy way of identifying these records?
I'd select them all in the list view (filtering them if appropriate). Press 'Export'. You can follow this guide - http://support.sugarcrm.com/Documentation/Sugar_Versions/7.6/Ult/Application_Guide/Export/.
Then I'd open it up in excel, and swap the data in the columns of 'Any Email' and 'Non-primary emails'.
I'd then reimport them, but this time make sure to tick 'Create new records and update existing records Information'.
Let me know if you have any problems with this.
I'm new to all of this, so bear with me.
When i imported them I used the header simply - email. If I want it to be the primary email address should I use the 'Any Email' title?
And if I recall correctly I think I did use 'Create new records and update existing records Information'
Also I have just picked out a few of them to check and they all seem to say '(primary)' if I hover over the email address...
I'm very confused!
I've attached the icons of what email addresses look like when they're primary (top row) and when they're not (bottom row). Which row do your emails look like?
In Step 3 of the Import, 'Confirm Field Mappings', you'll have the choice to match the columns. Make sure it's matched to the 'Any email' column and not 'Non-Primary Emails'. This is the important thing. Labelling the header 'Any email' should help Sugar automatically match it, but get step 3 right.
You can test this out on one or two just to get comfortable with this.
The top row - the star is highlighted...
Strange that they apparently weren't and now they are.....
Having said all that, I have just been informed that it was a defect apparently, so shouldn't happen from now on...
Glad it's working now. :-)
