can I apply an after save hook for a sub panel?

When adding a record through a subpanel you basically create a relationship to the parent record. 

That's why you can use the after_relationship_add logic hook, see here:

In there you can put your conditions to trigger only when needed and to run the code needed.

it will run both side ..

• This hook will be executed for each side of the relationship. An example is that if you add an association between an Account and Contact, the hook will be run for both.

You can place on either side, the hook triggers on both records when linked. Probably best to chose the side where you want to run the majority of code on (or even split and run on both sides) - depends a bit on the use case I'd say. 

When doing a relate logic hook you can put it on either side.

For example, if you are relating a Contact to an Account 

If you put your hook in Accounts

$bean is Accounts

$arguments[related_module'] is 'Contacts'

$arguments['related_id'] is the Contact ID

The same hook in Contacts 

$bean is Contacts

$arguments[related_module'] is 'Accounts'

$arguments['related_id'] is the Account ID

Be sure to check which module you are relating to

e.g. on Accounts:

   function update_on_relationship ($bean,$event,$arguments){

        if ($arguments['related_module'] =='Contacts'){

          //do something

        }

}

The check will avoid running the logic when Accounts is linked to something other than Contacts, like Opportunities for example.

Dennis Wangerin I tried using the "after_relationship_add_method" but the event wasn't triggered. I tried using die() and alerting something using JS. I also added this to both modules one is custom while the other is a default module.
