How can you put current date in pdfmanager template

Looking to dynamically put date of pdf creation in the template. Tried {date()} and {today()} and neither works. Not sure if there is a way to do this.

Hi,
Please use the following statement in you template:
{$smarty.now|date_format:"%e %B %Y"}
It will show date in below format
25 April 2016
