Can anyone help me? I'm trying to install the file on my MAC computer. I have downloaded it but what next?
Here is our installation and upgrade guide for Sugar. You will simply unzip the file in a web accessible directory (on a Mac, it should be /Library/Webserver/Documents ) then navigate to that document root in your web browser. On a Mac, you can likely do localhost/SUGAR where SUGAR is the name of your sugar directory. From there, follow the on-screen instructions to install Sugar.
I'm soon lost. I've never had to do anything like this before. is there any tutorial?
Sugar is a web-based application that needs to be installed on a server, as opposed to an application on your computer. This would allow users to access Sugar from any device or location.
There are options that can replicate a server environment on your computer (http://support.sugarcrm.com/Documentation/Sugar_Versions/6.5/CE/Sugar_FastStack_Installation_Guide_6.5.0/Mac_FastStack/ ) however, this still requires some familiarity with PHP and web applications.
Although the Community Edition of Sugar is a free download, you may want to consider reaching out to one of our SugarCRM Channel Partners who may be able to host Sugar for you on their servers or our sales team to purchase a commercial edition of Sugar which includes hosting and other features not available with CE.
I hope this helps!Alex
