How to create reports in SugarCRM's Advanced Reporting Function (ReportMaker)

A good place to start when learning how to use Advanced Reports is to review our online documentation.  This page goes into detail the different pieces that are needed in order to create an Advanced Report.  You will need to have knowledge of SQL in order to create Advanced Reports.  What I like to do is create a similar report in the Reports module, then show the SQL query for that report by editing the report > Click on Report Details > Check the "Show SQL" checkbox > then click Preview.  The SQL query will be displayed at the bottom of the report results.  Copy the query, then paste in the Advanced Reports Custom Query section and modify to meet your business needs.

The documentation in your reference link is for version 7.5.  I am using Sugar Enterprise 6.5, would you know if this "Advanced Reports" feature is available in 6.5 ?

I can find "Manage Advanced Reports" option but when I clicked on it, it didn't show the "Advanced Reports" tab with the "Create Advanced Reports",  "View Advanced Reports" options ...etc.  It just showed the  "Search ReportMaker" screen  with no other option on the screen.

The Advanced Reports should be the same between 6.5 and 7.x.  Do you by chance have a third party Reporting tool installed via Admin > Module Loader as I am not familiar with the term "ReportMaker" and am wondering if this is referring to some other tool.

No, we didn't install any third party Reporting tool.  Anyway, I can now find the "Advanced Reporting" module you were referring to in your video. Somehow, under my version of SugarCRM (Version 6.5.14) , the module was called ReportMaker but the drop-down option list (Create Advanced Report, View Advanced Reports ..etc)  looked exactly the same as the list in your video !  I haven't tried it yet but I think I should be able to create new reports now.

i have sugarcrm community edition 6.5.22, How can i get that blue navigation bar

That blue theme you're referring to is only available for commercial editions (Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate) of Sugar.

In addition, Advanced Reports that are referenced in this discussion are available for the Enterprise and Ultimate Editions of Sugar.

I have been following this thread and it seems to be very informative, Thanks for those crisp answers. i have one more question. When we create advance report and run it the data shown is not linkable. Which means I cannot click on any row and open that record.

Is there anyway, I can enable that "Click" functionality ?

This would require code-level customization and is not something that is a current feature in the product. Please share if you are able to find a solution to this!
