I'm in the ''leads'' list view and I can't select a lead (there is no highlighted caracter...). Someone knows why?
The "Name" field is the field that contains the link to the record, but I do not see it listed in the screenshot. You might want to go to Admin > Studio > Leads > Layouts > ListView and ensure that the "name" field is added to the "Default" column. Then Save & Deploy.
Hope this helps!
The field ''name'' in the list view is the combination of ''first name'' and ''lasts name''... So how can I put a company name for my lead instead of a person name?
Usualy, the lead should be a company name, no?
You can use "Account name" field as Company name and "First name & Last name" as Contact name. After click on convert lead these value will auto populate in Accounts and Contacts.
By default, the first and last name of the Lead represent a person and not a company. If you ever plan on converting Leads, the lead conversion process creates a contact record that comprises of the First and Last name from the Leads record, then it creates an account record based on the Account Name you entered (or you are given the option to select an existing account). With that said, I do not recommend that you use a company name in the first and last name fields of the Lead record.
If you do not have any names to put in the first and last name fields, you can add the company name in the "Last Name" field. However, you may run into issues when you convert the lead, as it will want to create a contact record as well as an account record.
Hope this helps,
So if my understanding is good, I absolutely need a contact person to open a lead? For me that make no sense...I should be able to create lead even if I did not speak with someone in the compagny. Also, I can't create a contact (in contact module) for a lead...?
If I understand your last question,
"Also, I can't create a contact (in contact module) for a lead...?",
You can create a contact directly and then scroll down to the Lead subpanel to manually relate the lead, but you will not be able to see the related contact from the lead detail view unless you create/relate the contact via the conversion process.
Hi Dave St-Pierre,
Leads are by default designed to be a person and the associated account name, as at this stage the Lead is warm and you speak to people not buildings. Depending on the progression of the entity your talking to, you could use Targets when you don't have a contact at the company (typically a cold prospect) and then convert to a Lead when ready.
