updating email queue

Hello all,

I've got a question about the email queue.  If a contact is added to the newsletter campaign, I know I need to go in and click the "send email" button to add the new contact to the email queue.  I do have a question about that though.  Does the system automatically recognize that the current contacts are already in the queue?  Or will the old contacts get two newsletters?  If the old contacts get two newsletters, how can I simplify the process instead of deleting everything in the email queue and resetting it up?  Is there a way to just add the new contacts to the queue without making the current contacts get multiple newsletters?
