Customize Notification Drop Down SugarCRM 7.5

In the top right corner of the application you'll see a number 0 and a box.  If you get a notification (or have worked with it to create custom notifications), each new notification to you, you will see it turn red with the number of notifications.

What I would like to do is have it reset the notifications as read when they click on the box for the drop down.  Kind of like Facebook or Google where clicking the icon resets the unread notifications or in other words resets the counter.  Currently in SugarCRM, the counter is not reset until you manually view each notification.  The client doesn't like this.

Has anybody achieved this or worked with the notification javascript for this?  Is there a quick way to modify this?  If there isn't or currently there isn't really an easy way to do this, perhaps this should also be a suggestion or idea.

Thank you!
