How to get started with the SugarCRM Community

Discussion created by Alex Nassi Employee on Jun 4, 2015
Welcome to the SugarCRM Community! This article will discuss how to register an account in the community and some additional tips about how to get involved

Registering and logging in to the community can greatly improve your experience here. Some benefits include:
  • Post your own conversations; asking questions, reporting issues, sharing your ideas, and more!
  • Reply to or comment on other discussions already existing in the community
  • “Follow” categories or conversations that interest you and receive email notifications when new conversations are posted to the categories or when there are replies and comments on conversations
  • “Me-too” or “Like” conversations, comments, and replies to show your support of fellow community members
The recommended way to register and sign in to the community is to use an existing sugarcrm.com username. If you do not yet have one, you can register for one here. Your sugarcrm.com username allows you Single Sign-On access to sugarcrm.com, this community, and SugarExchange.
  • To register for your community account, start by clicking the “Register” button in the top-right of your screen

  • Under the “Use your SugarCRM account” text, you have the option to sign up with your SugarCRM account

Note: The other Sign Up options can be used, but these will NOT link to your sugarcrm.com account and you will not be able to take advantage of this single sign-on option.
  • You will be prompted for your SugarCRM.com username and password.

  • If you do not have a sugarcrm.com username or do not remember your password, you can use the appropriate options on this screen to register or retrieve your password.
  • Click “Log in.”
Note: To move past this point, you will need to have third-party cookies enabled in your browser.
  • You will receive a welcome email and will be redirected to the community where you can now interact with other users, follow categories relevant to your interests, and help other community members with their questions about Sugar!
Below are a few additional tips to review now that you have registered for the community:
  • Please take a moment to review our Community Guidelines as you begin participating in the community.
  • Before creating a new post, review the article, How to Post a Request for Help That Will Most Likely Get a Response to learn how to best receive assistance from the community.
  • When deciding which categories to follow, we recommend you start with the Releases, Events & News, and either Sugar 6.5 or Sugar 7, depending on your version. If you are using our On-Demand hosting, you should also follow the Outages category to be alerted if we are having any issues on our servers. Finally, if you speak any non-English languages, please review our International Assistance categories to interact with other non-English speaking community members.
  • If you would like to set up rules in your email client to organize messages from this community, all emails will be sent from noreply.sugarcrm@getsatisfaction.com
  • Update your “Profile Information” by clicking on the avatar in the top-right corner of the screen in the community. Please add a picture or avatar, your name, and other information about yourself.
  • Also under your profile, under the "Email & Notifications" tab, there is a section called "Community Notifications". Here, you have the option to receive an email notification for either all newly posted conversations, or all new notifications and new replies so you can stay completely up-to-date on all community activities.
