How to make dropdown mandatory on certain conditions?

Question asked by Sohan Tirpude on Mar 4, 2015
    Hello everyone, I am using SugarCRM 6.5.x CE version. I have a scenario where on Case module's edit page, I have a drop-down. So, I want is to make it mandatory if current user is a regular user, i.e. current user is not admin. If it's admin, then this drop-down must be non mandatory. So, please guide me here.
    I know how to make a text-field mandatory, using this code
echo "<script> window.onload = function(){
    addToValidate('EditView','description','varchar',true,'{$mod_strings['LBL_DESCRIPTION']}');
    $('#description_label').html('{$mod_strings['LBL_DESCRIPTION']}: <font color=\"red\">*</font>');
}</script>";
 but I am not getting any way to make this drop-down mandatory. I use this to make it mandatory, but no result

echo "<script> window.onload = function(){
    addToValidate('EditView','call_type_c','varchar',true,'{$mod_strings['LBL_CALL_TYPE']}');
    $('#call_type_c_label').html(\"{$mod_strings['LBL_CALL_TYPE']}: <font color='red'>*</font>\");
}</script>";
    Please help me here.
