Plain text not updating in email template when the message body is modified

We are currently on Sugar Professional 6.5.16.  Recently we discovered an issue where when we duplicate an email template and then make changes to the body of the template the plain text view is not updated.  I have been told that when modifying a template to first click on plain text, delete the plain text, then make the changes and save.  Has anyone else dealt with this issue?  I would expect that once I change the body of the message selecting save would automatically update the previous plain text view but this is not happening in our environment.
