How can I extend the "create.js" file  for a custom module?

I have a relate field for Contacts module in my "Cases" module and both the modules are "Sidecar".  On clicking the relate field, a pop-up will open where I can select the required Contact record. Also there is a "Create" button in that pop-up. So on clicking that create button the create view for the Contacts module will be shown. I need this Contact's modules createview pop-up to pre-populate some fields with the value from parent module (here Cases Module). I tried to extend the "create.js" in "src/clients/base/views/create" by creating the "create.js" in "src/custom/modules/Contacts/clients/base/views/create" . But it did'nt worked. I found many discussions here suggesting to use "create-action.js" instead of "create.js". I found out that this "create-action.js" works only in the normal create mode and not from the pop-up as I explained.

I am using version 7.2
