Why aren't contacts showing on the Message Sent/Attempted subpanel after marking non-email based campaign as sent?

Hello,

I created a test non-email based Campaign. I added a test Target List to the Campaign and added a test Lead and test Contact to the Target List. I then marked the Campaign as sent and all that happens is the page refreshes. I then went to the Status view of the campaign. I am not seeing the Lead or Contact I have on the Target List listed in the subpanel "Message sent/attempted". There is also nothing in the Campaign Log subpanel when I go to detail view of the Lead or Contact.

Is there a step I am missing here?

Using Professional 7.2.2.0.
