Error "CGI-limits reached"

Hello everybody,

We have a SugarCRM 6.5.4 instance running on a shared hosting since 2012. Since then users have used it with no remarkable issues. But last month they started to get "CGI-limits reached" and "500 Internal Server Error" messages.

There are no more users than before and there is also no more activity. There half a dozen users, that barely work with the CRM at the same time.

Talking to the hosting provider, they say that we have a maximum of 15 parallel processes that we can run at the same time and when this number is exceeded then the error occurs. Just for your info, we have a maximum of 80 MB of RAM per process, which makes a global maximum of 1.2 GB of RAM.

I know we can upgrade to a Virtual Private Server or simillar but we are a small nonprofit and we have to double check every spend we do. Furthermore, I feel confused about having fairly run the CRM under the (apparently) same conditions for two years and now suddenly step into these problems.

Any ideas? Any things to check? Is it normal that we use 15 or more processes while being just 6 users?

Thank you very much for your time and suggestions.

Jaume
