Why can't you search for an account, when you have uploaded a lead and given the account name - but not converted?

I think this is the same problem I am trying to solve. In the Lead module the default search only searches First Name and Surname.
When going to add a new lead, if I am in the Lead module, it would be convenient to just type the account name of the new lead into the list view search (default filter), and see if I get any matches.
I can type the account name in the global search and see everything that comes back, but of course it only shows the first few matches, and then I need to view all.
It would be much easier to extend the default search on the Lead module to search first name, surname and account name. Can this be done?
I don't want to create a separate filter, just have the default one search on account name as well.
