"Sugar CRM 6.5.0RC3 Files May Only Be Used With A Sugar CRM 6.5.0RC3 Database."

Question asked by Amy Warriner on May 19, 2014
I have a Synology Disk Station. I ran a Sugar CRM update within the Disk Station Package Center, but it was faulty- instead of updating the Disk Station itself, it downgraded Sugar from 6.5.14 to 6.5.0RC3 Beta Version per the error below.  Yet, the Disk Station lists the Sugar Version as 6.5-0020.  Never heard of such a version.

When I attempt to launch Sugar, I only get the error message "Sugar CRM 6.5.0RC3 Files May Only Be Used With A Sugar CRM 6.5.0RC3 Database."

My IT Guy cannot restore without going off on our own, so I have a ticket in with Synology for what to do.  There is a forum thread on this issue at Synology: http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=190&t=83262&hilit=DSM+5.0+sugar

But, coming here to the Sugar Forums for any assistance.  This will be going off on our own, but my thought is to go to the Sugar 6.5.x upgrade link http://sourceforge.net/projects/sugarcrm/files/1%20-%20SugarCRM%206.5.X/SugarCommunityEdition-6.5.X%...  and

  1. Because I have no access to Sugar, from within the Synology Disk Station Package Center, do a manual install of Upgrade 6.5.0RC1 to 6.5.0
  2. Then see if I can access my Sugar.  If so, do the next upgrade from within there to 6.5.14.
  3. If I cannot access my Sugar, from within the Synology Diskstation, install the upgrade from 6.5.x to 6.5.14 to get back where I was.
  4. Then, I can reinstall my addons from within Sugar.  Or upgrade from within Sugar to current latest version 6.5.16.
Should work, unless the downgrade to beta messed up the version name in my database.  I do have a backup of the database after the downgrade.  I do not have a backup of the Sugar.

Any help, advise, direction, etc is appreciated.
