Inbound Email setup destroys session

I'm using an installation of SugarCRM CE version 6.5.16 Build 1082.  The system seems to destroy my session when I perform any operation that attempt to connect to the IMAP server from the Create Inbound Email page.  If I click "Test Settings", or "Select" to find an email folder, I receive a "You have been logged out because your session has expired" message.  

Further testing reveals that the system logs me out when I click either of those buttons, even when I have no information in the form fields.  It looks like the ssue is occurring prior to any IMAP connection attempt?
