Error on sort columns in subpanel of custom module

I have created 2 custom modules, with a 1 to many relationship between them. Module Degrees is the parent, module Completed Degrees the child.. When I attempt to sort the records in my subpanel (module Completed Degrees records/detail) I get the following error
Fatal error: Call to a member function isCollection() on a non-object in /var/www/html/devel/data/SugarBean.php on line 3102
I have attempted ALL repair options. I have copied the link code that is attached to the heading at the top of each column (the link you sort by) and have found what I think is an anomaly. In other sub-panel definitions when sorting by column heading there are a couple of variable pairs like the below; Contacts subpanel in Accounts module
&Accounts_contacts_CELL_ORDER_BY=title
&Accounts_contacts_CELL_offset=
and
&Accounts_contacts_CELL_ORDER_BY=title
&layout_def_key=Accounts'
The corresponding links from my custom modules are as follows:
%C2%B0_Degrees_deg_degrees_deg_completed_degrees_CELL_offset=
%C2%B0_Degrees_deg_degrees_deg_completed_degrees_CELL_ORDER_BY=name
I'm thinking the two lines of code should be something like the following?
&Degrees_deg_degrees_deg_completed_degrees_CELL_offset=
&Degrees_deg_degrees_deg_completed_degrees_CELL_ORDER_BY=name
Could anyone tell me if that is indeed the cause of my error, and if it is, any thoughts on where I might go to correct it?
