Slow execution time for calendar after update from 6.5.15 to 6.5.16

Hello Everybody hope you can help.

After update to 6.5.16, the calendar execution is very slow and resulting even in 'Query limit of 1000 reached' .

increasing the Query limit on ends up taking more time. Admin is able view a shared calendar after waiting a while but regular users get an error.

These folks seem to have figured it out.

I emailed and asked and have not heard back.

they describe the culprit as 'The cause has been identified as a code-level issue whereby the calendar displays the current day/week/month/year view applicable to ALL Activities in the system up to that date, rather than selecting just that correct period of time's Activities and displaying them.'

Any tech savvy coders here that can suggest a solution?

I tried

$sugar_config['resource_management']['default_limit'] = 5000;

$sugar_config['vcal_time'] = '0';

neither make a difference other than run the query for a longer period of time.

I have been using sugarcrm for 3 years now and have many old dates and if the problem is as described above. it does make sense why it would take a long time.
