Importing Calls related to Cases

Using CE v6.5.16, I tried importing call records from a previous CRM (v5.0), but everytime I try to import a call record related to any other module aside Accounts, I'm given this error:

                    PHP Fatal error:  Call to a member function add() on a non-object in /var/www/html//data/SugarBean.php on line 1808, referer: http://xx.x.x.xx//index.php

And on the screen during importation, I see this:

                    Import Errors Occurred

                    NOTICE: [8] Undefined property: Call::$cases on line 1808 in file /var/www/html/crm-test/data/SugarBean.php

So I traced it to the line in the file /data/SugarBean.php causing this error:

                    $rel_add = $this->$rel_name->add($this->$id);

Now, in my simple understanding, the reason this is caused is because the -> operator is trying to call a static class property ($cases) which cannot be done, but I could be wrong. Could anyone help me out and explain if this is the correct assumption and if it is, could you help me resolve it?
