Is it possible to create a custom table within a module?
I have a table from Excel that I would like to place within a tab in the Accounts Module. Can I insert a table instead of making a list of custom fields?
Is this possible?
Hi Brianna Schardt
Do you mean rendering a grid of data related to the current Account?
It really depends what you are wanting to achieve.
If your Excel table has columns and rows and the values need to be updatable I would create a new module for it and relate that module to the Account as a 1-M or N-M relationship, depending on your scenario. That way you would get a subpanel with the excel columns as fields. You can remove the module from modules displayed so that it does not show in your megamenu and just keep it as a subpanel, all viewing and edits would be done via subpanel.
Alternatively, and I'm just brainstorming here:
Create a custom field type, and add a field of that type to your Accounts Module to contain an HTML table. You could make this field editable by someone who nows HTML by having your hbs display the HTML code in edit and the actual table displayed view. (I have not tried this but it could be an interesting field type - in theory you could also use some standard for table creation like they do in Twiki or JIRA and convert that to an HTML table display).
Or, if it's static:
- You can add it as an html field.
- You can screen capture the Excel table and add it as an img field.
- You can add it as a custom dashlet to the Intelligence Pane of your Account
I hope to have given you some ideas,
