SugarCRM reports are one of its best features. I often create a report with Run-time Filters that enables me to show different charts based on that filter., i.e., sales team. Tather than write several reports that are the same, I write a single report and use filters to select the items I want to display.
I often reports charts in the dashboard and I want to be able to have different Run-time Filters for each chart, say showing sales for different teams etc. Currently this is not possible but could be implemented just like the built-in dashlets, that is the Run-time Filters are set in the dashlet!
If this were done, then the old built-in dashlets could be replaced with reports, eliminating a lot of custom code and making the dashlets more flexible. This would be a benefit to both the customers and Sugar.

In AlineaSol Reports 4.X Enterprise (will be released end of February/early March) we support a Report field that can be added with Studio. This field allows filters to be set. Maybe also an idea for Sugar Reports!
We will be expanding this to the dashlets in near future point releases.
@AlineaSol
Hello,
please do not only enable this for dashlets, but also when using a report to fill contact lists, as at the moment reports you use this way only can use the reports' default settings.

An option can also be added to select show chart or record list? so that if list is selected list of records result in report will be displayed on dashboards. Currently only chart are visible.
Sugar v6.5 had option to 'drill down' into the report that created the dashlet, so bringing back that option would help?
Otherwise, I know a partner has an addon for this
any news on it? It is quite important for daskboard usabilitty!!
I really need to be able to do this. I have reports based on a Fiscal Year calculated week. So technically they're time based but it's a calculated value so I need the user to enter it when they view the chart on the dashboard.
There is enhancement request on this, which is #62408. You can follow up the status of the request.
