It's all about the "Likes"

We've mentioned this a number of times in the  2017 App Throwdown Overview and in the 2017 App Throwdown FAQ, but it's worth emphasizing that once again, our community has the power to enable you to present in front of the entire SugarCon crowd! If you want your 10 minutes of fame, then shameless promotion is a good thing and highly encouraged! So get your social media engines in full gear! Get your Facebook friends energized! Leverage LinkedIn! Start a revolution on Twitter!  (it's been done before...) And ROCK THE VOTE in the SugarCommunity!!! Here's how.

Voting Process

Once a blog is published, members of the Sugar Community will be able to "vote" on your submission. Voting is done simply pressing the "Like" link in the activity stream or at the top of the post. Here's an example activity stream from Partner Corner that shows where the "Like" links appear. You can also vote by clicking the "Like" link at the top of an individual post.

How do I know there are no Russians hacking the App Throwdown?

You can see who is voting for your content by seeing who has "Liked" your content. From the activity or your blog post, click on the number that appears next to the "Like" link. This will open a dialog box similar to the one below. Please realize that it's possible for members of the community to "Like", i.e. Vote, for more that one entry. It's up to you, as an provider of an application, to muster the votes to win "Crowd Pleaser."

Pro Tip - See Your Impact

As the author of a blog post, the Sugar Community makes it possible to see the impact your content is having as well as the sentiment about your content. You can check this by scrolling to the bottom of your post and looking for the "Global Reach" box.

When you click on that box, you will see a dialog box that displays the "impact metrics" of your post.

For Brandon Sellers post on A.I., everyone that's seen his post thinks it's great (as indicated by the "Exceptional" ranking for sentiment, but the impact is a bit low. For your App Throwdown submissions, a great way to boost your ranking and get people to "Like" a.k.a. "vote" for your content, is to share this with other members of the community. You can do this by clicking the "Share" link on your post and entering the people you'd like to notify along with a brief message. Just remember, you can only share content with people that are following you. So don't be shy, reach out and engage your fellow Sugar Community members!!
