As part of the building our community, we want you and your team, to be able to reach and engage. In order to do this, you'll need to make sure that you represent yourself well. And a great way to do this is your Sugar Community profile! Here are some simple steps that will help everyone get to know you a bit better and encourage interaction and engagement. All of these steps should take about 15 minutes.

Edit Your Profile

Ensuring you have a good profile is one of the key ways for people in our community to understand who you are. This is an easy process. Just drop down the menu in the top right and click the link on your name. Then, from the Actions menu, select "Edit profile". See the screen shots below.

When you update your profile...

  • Create a meaningful bio
  • Add some skills for which you want to be endorsed
  • Choose a good avatar (see below)

You can check out my profile as an example.

Update Your Avatar

Next, check your Avatar! You want to make sure you have a nice avatar that reflects who you are. A headshot is recommended.

Get Connected!

It's important to build up your "connectedness."  In the SugarCommunity, you can not only follow people, e.g. our customer leaders and key "Sugas", but also places, e.g. News, Partner Corner. The more that you are connected, the more influence you'll have within our community.

Follow Key People

To get started, you should follow Mark Weitzel & Donna Ewart . And while you are at it, you might as well follow a few other key people as well, like Rebecca Jukoski, who is responsible for Sugar's customer reference program and Clint Oram, our CMO & Co-Founder. If you're a geek, then  Matt Marum, our Lead Developer Advocate, and Alex Nassi our community manager.

Following someone is super easy, all you need to do is hover over their name click the "Follow" button! By default, you should select "Following" and "Inbox".

Pro Tip: You can use the "Global Search" in the upper right hand corner to quickly find someone. In the image above, I've used search to find Katie Liesmann. Once I see her name on the right, I simply hover over it and click the "Follow" button.

Follow Key Places

Also, make sure to follow the Partner Corner,  News, Releases, SugarCloud spaces as well. You’ll see a “Follow Button” in the upper right of the page.

Sweet! Now you have a great profile, are connected in the Sugar Community, and are ready to engage!! Make sure to check out Getting Started to learn more about how to make the most of the Sugar Community.
