On 10/26/2019, SugarCRM will be disabling support for TLS versions 1.1 and older in SugarCloud. To learn more about this change and TLS, please review Blocking TLS v1.1 and earlier in SugarCloud in the Developer blog.

Here at SugarCRM we understand the value of your customer information. It is one of our highest priorities as an organization to ensure the integrity, confidentiality and availability of your customer data. A critical part of data protection is remaining current with the latest industry standards for web security.

As you may know, TLS (Transport Layer Security) is the encryption protocol used to secure the connection between browsers and web applications. As TLS continues to evolve with enhancements to security and performance, organizations need to continue to adopt the latest versions of the protocol. In fact, next year, all of the major browsers will be retiring support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1.

Please be aware that as of 10/26/2019, connections using TLS v1.1 or older will no longer be supported. If you are unsure as to whether your organization is affected by this change, or if you have any other questions, please file a case or email

SugarCRM is pleased to announce a new tool to ease the process of migrating on-premise Sugar instances running on a MySQL database into the Sugar cloud.

Previously, this was a time consuming and manual process. The Instance Packager makes this a one-step process, and provides a simple method to ensure that instances are ready to be imported into the Sugar cloud.

The Instance Packager is available for download from the SugarCRM GitHub Repository.

SugarCRM was founded on the basic premise that your CRM should be flexible. From the outset, part of that product design philosophy was to offer flexibility in the way of deployment. That is, to give you the ultimate choice of where and how to setup, manage and maintain Sugar. Over the years, our customers have long enjoyed the ability to elect Sugar On-Site, Partner-hosted or On-Demand, each with their own distinct benefits and the flexibility to switch among them as your needs change. Deployment flexibility has given our customers a unique alternative to both the SaaS-only as well as legacy on-premises models.

Fast-forward 14 years and we’re now at a point where the preponderance of our customers have come to embrace the SaaS model of enterprise application software and have subsequently made the migration over. The benefits of SaaS are many, predominantly the resource-efficiency, speed, simplicity, security and scale that come along with a fully vendor-managed, cloud-delivered solution.

Going forward, we will be referring to Sugar On-Demand under its new name: Sugar Cloud.

So what is Sugar Cloud?

More than just a SaaS deployment option that delivers lower total cost of ownership, reduced time to value and greater user adoption, Sugar Cloud is a business strategy and a platform.

As a business strategy, Sugar Cloud enables you to focus on more strategic IT vs. tactical IT by delivering a secure, modern, performant, and highly interoperable system all which is managed by SugarCRM. Delivered on a quarterly release cycle, Sugar Cloud ensures an accelerated pace of product innovation. This ensures that you are always on the latest technologies and features that help you deliver the best possible customer experience. Sugar Cloud also puts customers in a better position to address both increasing consumer demand as well as regulatory policies on consumer data privacy with continued enhancements to data privacy management.

As a platform, Sugar Cloud opens up greater possibilities to design and configure your CRM system to suit your unique organization. Sugar Cloud delivers greater customization through configuration with a focus on minimizing any code-level effort. Also, given that your CRM serves as the nexus of your customer information, Sugar Cloud also offers unlimited REST API calls, connectors, extensions and more so that your CRM can interoperate with your broader enterprise app set, easily and at scale.

SugarCRM will be performing scheduled maintenance to the Email Archiving (SNIP) service's infrastructure on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, starting at 8:00PM PDT (GMT-7) lasting for approximately 30 minutes.

During this maintenance window, the Email Archiving service will be impacted for both On-Demand and On-Site instances with the following impacts:

  • New registration and de-registration of instances with the Email Archiving service will be unavailable
  • Mail delivery into instances will be delayed during the maintenance and for up to an additional 30 minutes after the maintenance window
    • This will not result in any type of data loss, but emails sent into the SNIP service will not be processed immediately

After this maintenance window is complete, the source IP addresses for connections to instances will change. This is not expected to affect most customers, but administrators who have IP address restrictions in place may need to update their setting and are encouraged to contact our support team for assistance.

Beginning this month, we are going to update our On-Demand platform to PHP 5.6. Sugar was the first release to introduce support for this version of PHP and now that Sugar 7.6 is EOL, we can safely update all of our servers. These upgrades continue our efforts to deliver a faster, more stable, and more secure hosting option to our On-Demand customers.

We will begin these upgrades in early February. There will be more specific details sent to all applicable email contacts per our On-Demand Communications policy.  For many instances, this will be a seamless process, but if you have added any customizations to your instance via Module Loader, please take this time to verify that they are compatible with PHP 5.6.

If you have any questions about these impending changes, please ask them below!

We are aware of issues affecting performance or availability of a subset of instances hosted in our On-Demand environment. Our Operations team is actively working on repairing any issues.

This thread will be updated with any new information once available.
