Posted by Rich Green Employee Jul 28, 2020

SugarCRM has released version 5.3.2 of Sugar Hint. Hint automates the process of researching and recording up-to-date and accurate information on prospects and customers. It provides a wide range of important, useful, and actionable insights about your contacts and accounts. Hint is always working for you in the background, gathering relevant news, and informing you of important opportunities to build better relationships. The Hint product family is a cornerstone of SugarCRM's No-Touch platform, enabling your employees to spend more time on the thing that matters: building customers for life.

This update addresses an issue where accessing the Hint panel may result in an error (e.g. View Render Failed) for customers using Sugar version 9.3.x or lower. More details about this update, including details about fixed issues, may be found in the Hint 5.3.2 Release Notes.

Customers hosted in the SugarCloud will have their version of Hint upgraded to version 5.3.2 automatically. Installation, upgrade, and usage documentation for Hint can be found at the following links:

Note: On-site customers (non-SugarCloud) must first uninstall existing Hint versions before upgrading to Hint 5.x.x. However, upgrading from 5.0.x to 5.3.2 does not require an uninstall.

Hint is supported for use on Sugar versions 8.0 and above. Please review the Supported Platforms for Hint before installing. Hint can be purchased by contacting your SugarCRM sales representative.

The 10.0 release further advances Sugar’s robust suite of customer experience solutions, empowering your marketing, sales, and service teams to collaborate across the entire customer lifecycle for more meaningful, memorable experiences. Learn more about the first intelligent, no-touch customer experience (CX) platform and how to exceed expectations and create customers for life:

Coinciding with the Q2 2020 release, the Sugar 10.0 annual release incorporates features and enhancements from the preceding Sugar Cloud quarterly releases (Summer '19, Fall '19, and Winter '20, as well as Q2 2020). This is the first release using the New Naming Convention for Sugar Releases, instead of being named "Spring '20," to better serve our customers in the southern hemisphere.

Administrators can restrict user access to these modules via standard team and role restrictions. Audit Log functionality has also been added for the Product Catalog module.

  • Empty field pills
    • Record view is now more compact with empty fields represented by a single empty field pill instead of a field name and a blank value.
Learn more about these and other user interface updates in Exciting Updates to Sugar’s User Interface in Q2 2020!

SugarCRM has released versions 9.0.3 and 8.0.6 for all editions and are available for download to on-site customers. At SugarCRM, we consider data security and the protection of your private information our highest priority. This latest release includes important security updates. As part of our ongoing security review process, we have recently detected security vulnerabilities and, to minimize potential risks, those issues have been investigated and addressed in this updated release.

For more information regarding the specific advisories, please refer to the following Security Advisory announcements:

Following our investigations, we have no indication that the vulnerabilities were exploited. However, administrators are strongly encouraged to upgrade their Sugar instances running the 9.0.2 or 8.0.5 versions of Sugar or prior to 9.0.3 or 8.0.6 to prevent potential exploitation of these weaknesses.

If you host your instance on-site (in any environment outside of the SugarCloud environment), please carefully review the following instructions and take the actions outlined below at the earliest opportunity. Failure to take these actions could leave you exposed to malicious attacks. No action is needed for instances hosted on Sugar Cloud as these vulnerabilities have already been remedied per Sugar Cloud policy.

Please visit our Download Manager to download the latest patch for your release, 9.0.3 or 8.0.6, which address these vulnerabilities. Our Installation and Upgrade Guide contains the appropriate guidance to apply these patches to your instance.

If upgrading now is not an option, please open a case with our support team to request a hotfix for the security vulnerabilities. We will then supply a module loadable package that can be applied to your current version and edition of Sugar. Please note that we will only supply hotfixes for supported versions. Support tickets can be opened via our portal or by emailing support@sugarcrm.com. If you are not familiar with the support process, please review our knowledge base article on Working With Sugar Support.

Release Notes

More information on the updates in this release can be found at the following links:

If you want to ensure you are up-to-date on all our latest releases, please click the ‘Follow’ button under the Releases space in the community.

With the unprecedented effects of COVID-19 felt by our global community, we'd like to notify you that we are extending security support for all Sugar Enterprise and Professional instances on version 8.0.x, through October 30, 2020.

In previous communications, we shared an End-of-Support date of April 30, 2020; however, due to recent events, we have made the decision to extend the 8.0 security support window. We understand the rapidly evolving challenges that many businesses are now facing, and we make this decision to provide the utmost support to our community as we remain unwavering in our dedication to our customers' success.

If you are in the process of upgrading to a supported version, we recommend that you stay the course. A supported version will benefit your business by diminishing the level of effort required for continuous fixes, enhancements and security updates. While we are extending the services, we still urge you to upgrade as soon as possible if you have not begun the process. For further assistance, please contact SugarCRM Support at support@sugarcrm.com.

If you are seeking additional assistance with upgrades, SugarCRM offers a Technical Advisory Service for upgrade planning. This packaged offering includes planning assistance, a health check review, a project plan template, and a post-upgrade review to ensure successful outcomes. For any additional information, contact us at tamservices@sugarcrm.com.

Sincerely,

Rich Green
Chief Technical and Product Officer, SugarCRM
